Discovering Bromborough: Moats and Manors is a community archaeology project, which builds upon a successful HLF funded project organised and run by Big Heritage for the community of Bromborough on Wirral.
In 2013 Big Heritage organised a series of test pits throughout the core of Bromborough village. We taught local volunteers how to excavate, record and process the finds and features they unearthed in their own back gardens and the villages communal areas.
The project attracted a large cross-section of the community, from school children to retirees. To see a short film about the 2013 season see below.
This year, with HLF funding, we intend to continue our test pitting work, explore a local at risk monument and provide opportunities for volunteer training in a number of archaeological skills. Follow the progress of our work here and please join in!!!!
You can also keep abreast of all our onsite activities via our Twitter account @digbrom, which we will be using to live tweet the fieldwork.
Would like join you – perhaps come tomorrow or Sunday.
